Description
The BPI Basics Kit
This Sensit P-100 and HXG-2D combo kit will allow Technicians to safely comply with the BPI 1200 standard. These two high quality instruments will alert an auditor when carbon monoxide and combustible gases are present. Both units will display the concentration of each gas in PPM (parts per million) and give audible (P-100 and HXG-2D), vibratory and visible alarms (P-100) when dangerous levels are detected. The Sensit HXG will display the combustible gas concentration in PPM and will switch to % of LEL when this concentration reaches over 999 PPM. The user can also configure to unit to display both PPM and LEL if this is preferred.
Sensit HXG-2D Digital Gas Leak Detector
The lowest cost answer if you need to be BPI 1200 and/or RESNET compliant!
IDEAL FOR USE IN NY STATE (EMPOWER) PROGRAMS
The first affordable gas leak detector with TRUE digital display!
After you tell your customers/clients you have detected a gas leak with a TICK type leak detector, many may ask: "Well, how much of a leak?"
Now the HGX-2d allows you to be specific!
With the innovative ZTR-Zero Threshold Reset - you can look at the gas level above the level created by pipe dope or some soap solutions, to tell you the TRUE LEAK!
The SENSIT HXG-2d pinpoints leaks quickly with its true digital display and electronic tick control. Ideal for natural, butane and propane gas leaks. The SENSIT HXG-2d is safe, durable and reliable.
Key Benefits
- Direct PPM readout
- Direct "LEL" percent readout
- Electronic tick rate control to pinpoint leaks
WORKING WITH PROPANE?When an HXG-2D calibrated on Methane shows 10% LEL when sampling Propane gas you are actually measuring 6% LEL of Propane due to the differing energy content between Methane (CH4) and Propane (C3H8).
EG. When sampling Propane gas:
(LEL reading when Methane Calibrated) x 0.6 = LEL reading of Propane gas
The SENSIT HXG-2D Covers the requirement of ANSI/BPI-1200-S-2015 (BPI 1200) Standard

7.1.1 Combustible gas detector (CGD) CGD equipment used for testing shall:
7.1.1.1 Be classified to UL 913 Intrinsically Safe Apparatus and Associated Apparatus for Use in Class I, II, and III, Division 1, Hazardous (Classified) Locations or equivalent.
7.1.1.2 Have a variable tick rate or changing tone based on gas concentration levels. Note: The tick rate provides the indication of concentration but only accounts for relative concentration changes, not necessarily identifying hazardous concentration thresholds.
7.1.1.3 Be capable of providing a digital display of percentage of Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) and/or provide an alarm when detecting combustible gas concentrations exceeding 10% Lower Explosive Limit (LEL).
7.1.1.4 Be calibrated and/or operation checked in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations with available documentation traceable to the individual device.
7.1.1.5 Have the ability to zero ambient conditions.
Proposed Amendment to RESNET STANDARD:
Excerpt from Revisions to Chapter 8 Sections 806-808
806.1 Equipment needed Combustible gas detector
- Must be intrinsically safe. It is essential that the instrument being used to detect gas leaks will not cause a spark.
- Must have an adjustable tick rate. The tick rate provides the indication of concentration.
- Gas leak detectors are prone to false positive signals from humidity and it is essential to have the ability to zero ambient conditions to trace the location of a leak.
- Must provide an alarm when detecting the LEL exceeds 10%.
- Must be calibrated in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, or at least annually, whichever is the greater frequency.
- Must be labeled with a calibration sticker, noting at a minimum the date of last calibration
Sensit P100 Personal Monitor - Carbon Monoxide (CO) (2 Year Warranty)
Easy to Use, Low Maintenance, Low Initial Cost
The SENSIT® P100 is a single gas personal monitor designed to warn the user of hazardous gases in their working environment.
Smaller than many cellphones, this potent powerhouse provides 24 full months of complete protection from Carbon Monoxide (CO) exposure without missing a beat! It detects CO in the range of 1 to 999 PPM with 1 PPM resolution.
The extremely durable Sensit P100 (CO) provides audible, visual and vibration alarms when any of the preset limits are exceeded. The preset operational life at 24 months provides an easy reminder to have the sensor and battery serviced.
The Sensit P100 (CO)has two basic styles of instantaneous alarm: Low Alarm (50 PPM) activates at two second intervals while High Alarm (200 PPM) activates at one second intervals.
Since Carbon Monoxide is a cumulative poison that builds up in the body over time, the Sensit P100(CO) also tracks a time weighed average (TWA) over 8 hours and will alarm when the TWA is greater than 50 PPM. In addition, as Carbon Monoxide can cause more immediate harm at higher levels, the Short Term Exposure Limit (STEL) alarm is set at 75 PPM.
The custom display provides the user with easy to view information including gas concentration, time remaining in months to sensor replacement, battery low alert and activation of calibration process.
The Sensit P100 (CO) is constructed of durable high impact ABS plastic. The top housing is additionally protected with a shock absorbing material to protect the instrument from the rigors of field use. The front of the instrument has an opening for the sensor and sounder. These are sealed to maintain the integrity of the IP65 rating.
Two buttons operate the instrument. The left button is for power while the right is for zeroing and performing calibration. Multiple LEDs beneath the frosted area create a very bright warning even in bright sunlight.
The instrument is mounted using a sturdy suspender clip on the back of the instrument. This instrument cannot be powered off or zeroed when in alarm mode.
The sensors and battery are designed for 2 years of continuous normal use. The on-board memory will store up to 100 events or alarm conditions. These can be downloaded through a specialized connection and a computer interface. Oldest events are over-written automatically when the maximum is reached.
